My 3 year old barred rock has stopped laying and the past two days she has lost most of her feathers. Her neck, wings, tail and rear feathers are all pretty much gone. She still has some on her back. I noticed this morning she was sort of swaying to one side or the other when walking and has since become weaker. She is still eating and drinking.
I thought maybe a vitamin deficiency so dosed her water with AviaCharge 2000 and gave her some canned dog food that is high in protein. We don't have cats so opted for the dog food. Anyway, I don't believe at this point that she is molting, although I do see that she has several new feathers coming in. Her comb is in great shape and still bright red and standing up as it should.
Any similar situations out there?
