just recently I lost 2 of my 3 chickens and have no clue so to why. I cleaned my coop and all areas in the off chance they cought something there. Now I am wondering if my only chicken is lonely. Should I get her another chicken to keep her company or am I just assigning emotions to her that she is not feeling?

I am so sorry to hear about your losses! Yes, your lone girl will definitely need friends. But, as you mentioned, it would definitely be good to try to figure out what happened to the others first. Sudden death (without any obvious "illness behavior") can be caused my many things, but with a small backyard flock it usually has to do with something they ate. (I'm thinking botulism or something similar.) Can you think through everything you have given them lately?

Yes, a lone chicken will be distressed - but until you determine if the cause of death was a communicable disease adding to the situation is not a good idea.
What symptoms did you note in the birds before or after their death? How long were they symptomatic if there were symptoms?
