Well on Saturday i lost my Black Swed female

I miss her so much!

We went on a four day vacation , my ducklings werent due till the 18th so I wasnt TOO worried about my broodies.

Well I came home and soon as i hit the ground I ran to check on all my feathered babies. I see my cayuga girl and DBM drake out, as well as the wild muscovy drake hanging around the fence with them.
Well I see egg shells on the ground

So I run in and there are 7 live babies, 1 trampled, one half way out of the egg ( dead) and two bad eggs. I was sad about my two dead babies, I havent had this happen before.

Ill have pictures up of the babies soon!!These are all crosses, but I got two magpie crosses that look pure . They are black and white and one might even be black brown and white!!!

I also got my first chocolate!! Its one of my cayuga crosses.
the other four are all buff crosses. I got one that will be buff, a blue, and two that look like mallards ( sired by my DBM)

Pictures will be up soon! Promise!

I DO HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS THOUGH!!!

One of my ducklings is VEY weak, cant even stand and I cant seem to get it to eat. How do i get some protein into it?!
And one of my mag crosses keeps pecking at eyeballs (ducklings) how do I treat this?

Sorry to hear about your duckling loss and also all those eggs missing on another of your posts. Seems going on a short vacation ends up with something going wrong on the homestead.

But Congrats on the new ducklings you do have.

What have you tried feeding your weak duckling? Try getting it to eat some wet, I mean really wet, chick starter. Just put a bit in a jar lid and add water or Avia Charge 2000, if you have it. More liquid than thick. I start all my ducklings on it. They slurp it up like crazy and gets them kick started, so to speak.

On the mag cross duck, I would separate it fm the ducklings for now. Not sure why it would be picking on them but you don't want any hurt ducklings. Isn't the broody mom watching them? I know my Scovy moms are pretty careful about their babies though I've had to stop a juvie Scovie fm picking on one once or twice. Once the ducklings are a week or two old, they can probably hold their own.
Hopefully, someone else will post with some good solid advice.

Post pics!!!!
