Loss of feathers on young Pekin Duck.

Yeah we just started them on the food the doc said, so i am hoping that helps!!! they were full feathered like a week ago... So it was odd?

To me it is at least. Honesy I read that the feed you had them on has what they need protien wise so im a little confused. Ours will start getting the duckling feed tonight so ill simply watch to see if they lose feathers to.

I should say duckling fuzz, not actual feathers.

I mean, I think yeah!!! But like I dont know what happened between last week and this week. Lol. Like all their "yellow peach fuzz" is gone! Hoping it is just a stage and the new food helps...

Doctor was not worried, though. She said do the new food and it should get better. She said they are just balding for a little bit? lol.

Can you take and post a new photo in exactly a week to compare? Ducklings grow and change so quickly. I suspect it’s just the ugly duckling phase and they are loosing their down faster than they are growing adult feathers. Also the chest is one of the first places you see adult feathers and this is the spot that seems most affected.

Yes. I will post in a week a new photo. I am curious as I do see they grow SO fast. I will keep a close eye on it all. I would be worried if nothing changes.

They lose down quickly and many times the feather come in after.
Definitely giving them lots of greens along with feed will help..
