Some of my older birds have very loose stool as of this morning. We just put our younger ones out last night with the group.

When I can home I noticed that some of the loose stool now has blood in it.

I have forgotten the name of the med. that you put in the warter.

Thanks for your help...

we have Coxoid and Baycox in the UK.

Blood in stools indicates Cocci. It can be fatal and spreads rapidly.
Make sure that the chickens don't come into contact with the poo so if you can make a raised mesh floor to do this. Don't let them out as they could contaminate the ground, best to keep them in and clean and disinfect everything. Bleach is good if can't get the cocci disinfectant.

Keep all things to do with infected birds away from any others.
and if i am teaching your granny to suck eggs on this then at least it will be helpful to those that read it having the same problem and don't know how to handle it.

I lost 13 rare breed chicks at 5 weeks due to this and all it took was a handfull of garden weeds.
