Lost 1st chicken to a dog!!!!

Darin. You did a great job. I am sorry you have this situation. Neighbors are such a crap shoot. They can be fantastic or.......NOT.

I hate to suggest this but they used to say that when a dog killed a chicken that one way to stop it was to affix the chicken to the dog's neck. That way when it starts to decompose, the dog and owner will be less likely to allow that to happen again.

On a good note, I got up this morning and went to check on the 3 remaining girls. I walked to the chicken house and noticed a hen hunkered down beside the feed barrel. She looked scared to death. She was the missing hen. She was trying to get back into the house with her friends. I opened the door and in she went.

I moved them down to the other house and cleaned out all the shavings. I am going to replace them all next week.

I lost 1/2 of my white hens. I guess I need to go see him and let him know how many are dead. I do not think that animal control has been there yet. I will call again on Monday.

Thanks for all the support and suggestions. It is good to have a place to come to to talk about these wonderful pets.

So sorry that it happened again...YOu'd think he would of learned after the first time...
Shooting the dog shows him nothing and he could then come back on you that you shot his dog.
