Lost 3 Geese in 2 Days

The only symptoms I could see that matched zinc poisoning was weakness and the third goose had a small amount of blood coming from its beak. I think the watering container is stainless but I'm not sure. It is a metal container from tractor supply. I have never seen them chew the kennel and can't see any wear proving that. It isn't out of the realm of possibility though.

Id missed that it was blood. Did you look in its mouth to see if there was any visible sores/injuries?
I agree with the other poster, try a broad spectrum antibiotic.

My geese free range and still get vitamin deficient. I guess the grass just isn't varied enough.
I thought of one more thing.... zinc toxicity. I can see your pen is galvanised, is your metal drinking trough galvanised or stainless? Have a read of this and see if anything matches up. Perhaps the warmer weather had some affect.

I have lost small birds from the zinc on the chain link and galvanized buckets do contain high zinc levels as well. I did not even think of that when building pens or looking at buckets! Zinc poisoning is very real, usually it's climbing birds like parrots that suffer from it but geese are VERY nosy so there's a good chance they've been mouthing the chain link

Yeah, I wouldn't use any metal containers.... They look kinda small also.... I supplement a layer and 4 grains, not as much as winter, but daily, I found even on pasture, they can lose weight,(you seem to have similar grass as I do)... also birds are very sensitive to chemicals ...I won't use any , except treating fireant nests.... Holderreads said herbicides are toxic even though the chemical companies say not...losing one can be a lot of reasons, (including hardware disease), but all points to a feed or toxin to me....Waterfowl feed is not available here either, so I just give a better layer and mixture of grains... still , they have GMOed the grains so much especially corn, and it can get a moldy toxin on it..
