It is so nice to see people helping out other people. You MOVED that was fast!! But I am sure you feel safer. I had a loss this summer to weasels kill 40 of my 45 chickens in a 2 hour period at night. I had raised them all from eggs as well and I just sat in my back yard holding dead chickens crying

I still think of those poor birds. I have just now decided to start again, I have 2 babies that just hatched today and 5 more day olds I bought today Naked necks!! Good luck to you. Hope everything goes your way!!!

Sue her for damages and put a lien on her home when she doesn't pay. If she loses the house then she'll learn a lesson and it sounds like she really needs a lesson.

I am so sorry for you. I recently was attacked by a neighbors dog that was running loose with their children. It attacked by two little yorkies, killing my sweet baby girl and severely hurting my little boy. I rushed to the vet hospital and they saved my little Henry after 3 days in intensive care. These people are just like the woman you describe. Not their problem. I am left with the bills and the sorrows. I know the loss of income and damage are bad, but losing the baby chick you raised by hand and knowing how your flock suffered has to be the worst. I wonder if the woman has insurance or if you have to take her to court to recover costs. I was able to get the insurance company to cover the dog costs, but of course it does not bring my little Annie back.

no insurance. No nothing. Rented mobile home, undependable car. Being poor is fine, being redneck.. not so much! I come from a very poor family, I don't judge for what others don't have. But for her not to even care... sad. Everyone has been so supportive!!!

While on vacation a while back, gate was left open and a blue heeler dog killed 12 of my 13 Partridge Rock hens and 1 of my 2 roos. The dog made the mistake of coming back about a week later and he took a dirt nap. No apologies.

I am so sorry for your loss. That is horrible. I agree with everyone on here. Sue them for your losses and the emotional distress. We had a dog break into our coop a few months ago. Killed 12 of my hens. I know not as many as yours but I felt horrible. People don't realize how much someone can love their chickens. It was a stray dog. It got away that morning with my dogs on its behind(my 4 are rescue) then it came back that night. It is SSS. Do not like to do that but animals can not just destroy someones animals. Once again I am very sorry and sad for your loss

Since things seem to be getting better how is your dad doin?

I hope for everyones sake that this dog is put down. The dog has gone from killing small animals to attacking humans. There is a fine line with a dog that kills. Some never jump it but many do and the end result is someone hurt or killed.
