lost 8 last night. 17 in 2 1/2 months.

Ill have my fingers crossed tonight. I fixed the gable vents. I really hope that was it. I picked up some coyote urine and four scent containers. I hope this works. I'm going to get a small radio as well. 8 in one night was too much.

Can you get a trap and try to catch the raccoon? I've seen where raccoons have chewed through plywood to get into stuff and watched them go over a hot wire (and heard them snarl.. but it didn't stop them) Once they get into a habit (like eating your birds) there's not much that will stop them.

Good luck!

Well they made it another day. I guess ill get a trap and see if I can get something. I have 9 acres. I really don't wan to catch everything.

lost two more. Getting a trap tomorrow and maybe more chickens. I think Ill have to wait till I trap something. Verrrry annoyed. I found a hole where my run cover meets the wall i didnt ziptie everyting close enough. I walked the whole run and pushed everywhere. I found the one hole and couldnt believe it. even more annoying is how they opened the coop door with it shut and it has a track covering the edges and where the door shuts on the ramp in. I guess ill have to latch that shut as well.

Yep, now that they have figured it out, you will have to have latches everywhere, and tighten the holes. If it were me, I wouldn't get more chickens until I was SURE the coop was secure. Otherwise, it's just a waste of money as those will get eaten, too. Good luck - I hope you catch the critter!

I bought more.... don't know why. Bought a trap. Built a cage for overnight. Fixing problems as we speak(on my smartphone). Now time for some sss. Now I have 3 BO, 1 mix rooster, 4 straight run sultans, 2 speckled Sussex, 2 ameraucanas, 1 found out today its a barred rock?? and 2 bramas. I don't know much about the bramas. Feather feet tan color. Ill have to sahow some pictures if they stay alive.

Didn't get anything in the trap. They are all still alive. Ill keep baiting the trap Im sure they are just really full. Im just not so sure the trap is big enough. I got the racoon one, but after 15 chickens this thing must be huge. I used bacon from our blt's last night. Ill probably just use some tuna tonight.

Set the trap. Went to Wal-Mart. Came home to set trap on its side. Little bit of blood and fur no coon. Ill move it and put some tree limbs on it to change it up a little bit. I don't think it is going to die but its hurting.

Sounds like you are using a leg trap. I am not opposed to killing the coon, but those traps don't discriminate. Cats, dogs, kids, it won't care. I use a live trap, bought two at TSC for $25. If I want, I can dispatch the animal caught or relocate it. I hate to cause suffering, even if it killed my birds.
