I just posted this somewhere else, but just found this after. I had a little one get through a spot where my dog had been lifting the chicken wire. I thought we were watching things pretty close, but that dog must have worked on it this morning. He just mauled it, didn't eat it..it was still alive when I got it. So sad:( Some may say it's just a chick..but I hatched these, and I was going to keep this one..I wanted an Autralorp, and it was my pick out of my batch. Now, I need to find me another one, I want one for sure in my flock. Does anyone know if there is someone selling baby Australorps? I don't want to do another hatch. I actually have some in a bator now that are Marans and EE's. So sad!

Thanks toast'n jelly,
how cute is that for a name on here...put some eggs on that toast, not sure about jelly and eggs, but you never know!
Anyway, didn't get mad at my dog, haven't had this problem before, we've on had him for almost a year. We just fixed the fence, put some chicken wire "inside" the coop area..boy, that was hard to think of to do! Kind of embarrassed.

Anyway, lesson learned, my other babies are safe now. Just looking for an Australorp.

Lol I don't think I'll put an egg on that jelly! Guess we learn from experience and there's always something to learn. Glad you got it all sorted out
