Lost a chick today :-(

I hope this does not jinx me but I have had no more losses of my first batch of chicks. The hatchery sent me replacement chicks from their brooder and only one of them were lost in the shipping. With all the chickens counted I have 51 chickens in all. The five chickens that got me started were left by the renter before me just running about the place. I just started feeding them and winterized one of the three small coops left behind and in the fall they started laying eggs 3-4 a day all winter long. This site has been very helpful and thank you for all the help.
