I spent the day today recovering my enclosure with hardware cloth after coming down this morning to find one poor dead 4 week old chick in the run with a missing leg. Take it from me, when you read that chicken wire is not sufficient - believe it! Now I have Chicken Fort Knox and hope it will be sufficient!

I don't know why people don't get this.

Chicken wire confines chickens, and is cheap. But that's it.

It is great in the coop, like to deal with broodies or new chickens, and it keeps chickens out of gardens.

It is called chicken wire because it keeps chickens out, not because it keeps predators away from chickens.

ohhh Im so sorry to hear that you lost a chick

Thanks, I didn't actually plan for them to be using that run for very long. I have hardware cloth for the yet to be built coop and this thing was just going to be for daytime use. The chicks were sick of coming in and out and I was sick of catching them and decided to let them spend a night outside. I knew better. Oh well!
