Our cochin that is our avatar died today. For the last month or so she has been "crowing" this horrible noise almost compulsively. Today she was doing it but almost like she had no voice, kinda raspy and quiet, then fell over and slowly passed. I was actually going to videotape it and post it to gets some idea what was going on, but unfortunately never did. She laid an egg yesterday, was alert and walking around all day, then just declined over maybe 5 minutes. Does anyone have any idea what happened, I'm sorry if this makes no sense, we just thought she was "odd" and now feel terrible that we didn't help her (we don't speak chicken).
