Lost a hen today

After discovering a ton of worms in my backyard, I grabbed the first hen that I could get my hands on and brought her to the worms. Normally this hen (a rhode island) would have enjoyed the feast, but this time she slowly walked away and sat down in a peculiar position in the middle of the yard. When I approached I noticed a great deal of runny poop on her feathers around her butt and her feet were in bad shape (very dry,flaky and pale). I called my wife who has more experience with chicks than I do and the hen started twitching. I then placed her on the ground where she eventually died. What could of happened? All the other hens look healthy but one has some runny poop on her feathers of her backside. Otherwise she is acting normal and looking good. What do I do about the other hens? I don't want to loose my entire flock.

When was the last time she laid an egg? Maybe she was eggbound

Go to this link and copy/paste the questions into this thread. Answer as many of them as you can and post any pictures that you might have of her too, especially any of her feet and legs since you say they looked bad/odd. I'm sorry you lost your girl and hope that with some more information we'll be able to help you figure out what happened.
