lost all 8 Silkies and Frizzles last night....Grrr

had to be something big and bad to take all 8! We've had a couple possums and coons that dug up under part of our little coop and they didn't take the whole chicken, just heads of part of the back end.

Got our super sweetest favoritest one too! So sad! Then our neighbor dog somehow got into our fenced in back yard and got our other favorite little sweet game hen (who was broody and about to set) he just killed her and pulled off some feathers. Didn't try to eat her at all, just did it for fun I guess. Broke our hearts.

Hope whatever it was doesn't get any more, but if it found them once, chances are it will come back for more. Be careful.

We set traps and cought our opposums and coons and had DNR come and re-locate them.

Oh I know that they're both here. I'm here on my property with a .310 and have been since 10:30 last night just watching and waiting. Its COLD out here tonight but my wonderful hubby set his alarm clock and brought me out some hot tea and some trail mix. Bless his heart!!!

Could be Coyotes, Foxes, or even the neighborhood dogs (if any are loose). I am sooo sorry! Not too very long ago, I lost nearly all my baby frizzles. They were not "tiny", but in between chick and teen. All we can figure is rats cause we have seen some back there. All were taken off except for one that was just lying there dead. None of the bigger birds were messed with? I know we need some cats, but ...my husband says no because we had a young cat, she was always good with the chickens, and then one day we caught her literally eating a baby chick. YUCK! Huggs to you.

well, no more carnage overnight. Nothing caught in the 2 traps we set either. We don't have loose dogs anywhere near here. We do have Rats, but these were full grown Silkies and Frizzles. The Roo was actually a pretty big guy too. We'll keep on trying with the traps, light, dog pee, etc...and hopefully nothing else will come back. If it does, look out. Pow!

If it is a big cat they have a large territory and it maybe a week or two before they come by again. But yes whatever it is will be back. Gloria Jean

Bent welded wire, wow! was it pushed in or pulled out? If pushed in lot's of critters if pulled out someting with very limber and flexible paws, strong as well.

I'll be out again tonight with my gun to watch. I'm glad your babies got through the night safe and sound. The only "wild" things that I saw was my Call ducks getting "wild" in their pool last night. LOL

It was pulled out. I'm going to take a "walkabout" on my property before dark and make sure everything is secure. Hubby did it last night, and he's wonderful but at 5:30 am I heard a ruckus over my partridge wyandotte pens and saw something large on top of it.

Turned out that our peacock, Hermes, somehow managed to escape his pen. After a 20 minute foot chase, into and out of the woods, I caught him. Darn peacock! LOL
