Lost all my chickens tonight!

I have no idea, but I am so sorry for your losses. We just lost 3 of our 4 chicks last night to the neighbors door. Tore the side off their day house (they still came in at night) and killed them all. Not a mark on them, but very dead. I can't stop crying, I can't believe I got this attached to our sweet chicks.

I'm thinking electric fence is the way to go next time, if I can get over my heartbreak. DH says he's going to build the Fort Knox of coops to protect from the darned dog.

I've heard an old saying last hunting season from some farmer friends of mine up in Southeastern Indiana...they said, "Possums eat in, Racoons eat out." When I asked what the heck that meant, they said if you find death and destruction inside the coop, then it's likely opossums, if the carnage was outside the coop...it was probably racoons. I found that quote rather interesting...has anyone else been able to validate this old saying? I didn't raise chickens then so I didn't give it much thought, but I have a lot more interest in that phrase now!
