Lost FOUR chickens yesterday

Yes, FOUR!

One of them got hit by a car (we live out in the country, but people speed by our house) and we couldn't find three others. We're down to 15 now.

I just hate not knowing what happened to the other three. At least if I knew, I would know whether to be watching out for a predator!!

Are there lots of feathers? I lost one last week to a hawk, and it looked like a down pillow exploded in my yard.

I, too, have recently lost four Spitz chicks and one blue orp bantam mom yesterday morning. It was sickening but knew something one day will get to them. It would be either coons or feral cats. Two of the bodies looked like it was licked to death by a dog. Three bodies were eaten, left behind feet and wings and one was half way eaten.

Not sure exactly what it is but coons would make a huge mess of bodies but this one ate pretty well.

I'm sorry to hear that EweSheep.

I just always thought once they got past their first year, I wouldn't have to worry about losing so many in one day!!!
