Lost hen

Welcome to byc.. I had multiple different situations with predators over the years tried everything.. Ever since i put a radio in my coop playing 24/7 the last couple of years. I havent had that problem. The only thing i deal with now is chicken hawks as mine free range during the day and roost at night and get locked in at night and i open them up in the morning. So sorry. I know it sucks.. I've lost alot until i figured out what works best. I've been told if i put an owl decoy out it will solve my problem with hawks. But havent been able to afford one yet. But my rooster and hens start hackling when one is flying nearby.

Welcome to BYC, and so sorry for your loss. I would be alert and prepared for any more attacks. Around here raccoons, foxes, and dogs cause the biggest predator problems. A feral cat once dragged a silkie out of a large pen and over a fence when the gate latch was not properly closed. You may want to invest in a raccoon trap cage, but I would put a wire fencing apron around it as Sourland suggested.
