So, and I'm trying my best to not be mad, my other half let our chickens "out out" yesterday, which he had been doing most of this week since it had been rainy and their run area was muddy. Hawk attack took out 10 of our 15. Our girls were devastated. Sometimes this just really sucks.

oh no, I'm so sorry :( That sure is a loss. Sounds like your other half had the best of intentions but sadly, reality had a different plan. bug hugs to you

I know, and I hate even involuntarily thinking "if you hadn't let them out" Just hate seeing the girls inconsolable on top of losing our pets. We've (up to this point) lost one in three years. This was insane.

That's the odd part. There's nothing, just feathers. Gave us hope by evening a few would come around, but nothing.

There were a few hawks circling around when we got home. Honestly, not 100% sure but we've had zero predators sans one raccoon a long time ago. Never have seen anything else. (Their normal run has an electric fence and netting over the top)

I mean, I guess it's not the matter now? (Given they won't be let out-out and most are gone) but could be? Just seemed odd with the hawks right above. Hard to say for sure I guess since nothing's left. Somewhat odd part the laziest/slowest chicken survived. But she was spooked for hours.
