Lost my 4th girl in 2 days tonight...

X2-the bobcat attacked you, it seems that would put all of this in another light for the state. If a dog attacks a person it generally needs to be put down, I guess depending on the state. I'm wondering do you have dogs of any kind? If not can you get some big dogs to at least pee around your chicken area ? (if not can you ?)
at least get treated for rabies, this will also help with your documentation later.

LOL... I do wizz the area regularly... but it's probably loaded with estrogen so counter effective :).

Having a well trained big breed would be really awesome. I started looking into getting a Great Pyrenees for a while, I found a 2 year old female today, I think I'm going to pull the trigger and adopt her. She's big too, ~105lb and just had a litter few months ago. She grew up with Turkeys and ducks and seem well adapted.

Again, bad stuff happens but things have a way to turn around somehow.

Just got the Great Pyrenees girl today. Her name is Blanche... kinda on the nose but no way I'm renaming a 2yo... back luck lol.

She's with me in the garage and got introduced to the 4 days old chicks. She sniffed them a little, collapsed on her side and 30 sec later the babies were climbing on her. Had to check her for a pulse. All 5 of them passed out. I'm next lol...

I'm so happy for you! Pictures please? We plan to get a Great Pyrenees or cross from a rescue organization (there's one nearby) to protect our critters on the new property. Please keep us updated.

Hey Thank you @NewBoots! Words of advice on GP: She sleeps all day. Won't really be active until 4PM. Why? she's up all night.I have a dog trap in the garage, where her bed and my office is... she's spent. the last two nights outside; galavanting, sniffing everything since I bought this place.....

So impressed... plus she's super lovely. I have to travel this week,,, I'lll miss her.. not sure I'lll miss the Goblin I married.... spending all my money.

Wow Blanche my Great Pyrenees has been an angel week 1. I've been on the road since Tuesday (can't wait to see her and the chaykins lol... and the wife too, after I do my rounds lol).

But she's been amazing! she sleeps in the garage but like clock work has been going outside on her own and doing the almost exact same round over and over, every 4 hours or so. Barked a little more than expected but our 2 acres are pretty creepy so I don't blame her.

No poops in the garage, stuck to her bedding. No missing socks or chewed office chairs. I'm really impressed.

One weird thing, down by the coop, she licks the run's linked fence a lot.. same spot every time... who knows lol.

Gots a good one on my hand me things. Such a great breed.

So far so really good! They seem to be naturals around stocks; kinda like their DNA has mutated their "reward system" from eating stuff to taking care of those who need, lol ok maybe a little too deep but they're like hawks on anything precious to their "master". even when my son goes out of sight 4' left in the driveway her head pops up and she has to go check. In all fairness, he's got a nice muff on curly blond hair, almost sheepesque. :)

I'll keep you guys posted but so far it's like having a good friend who knows what's important. OK, cheezy lol.

I don't recall if you said how big your property is. Does she seem to be getting enough exercise? We'll only have an acre and while I am so envious of Blanche I wouldn't want to confine a dog that needs more running room.

I am so tickled she is working out so well!
