I know what you mean. He was the love of your life. Always remember, you have all those wonderful memories of your little guy to help carry you through.

I was hunting for a copy of the Rainbow Bridge to send you, and then I saw someone already had. So many of us have shared your pain, having to help one of our loved dogs over to the other side to relieve their pain and stress. Christmas this year marked the first year since we had our loved Wally, our Weimaraner of 14 years, put to sleep. We had known for quite some time that the day would come, and then Dec. 23, '08, he told us. I've never felt such peace as after, knowing he would have no more pain but would be young and limber and free to race and bound up hills once again. Our vet came out to our house so we were all with Wally who was relaxed and trusting with us. Truely, you'll soon be remembering all the fun and wonderful times you shared and the sad days will fade away. Hugs, ~G

Thank you all soo much. Yesterday was pretty hard but I have accepted the fact that he is not suffering anymore. I am sure he is up there in pet heaven playing with buddy and the cats we have lost over the years. I have thought alot about all the good times we had and all the goofy but adorable things he did as well. I missed him begging for table scraps last night and DH missed that too. He always ate with us. Thank you for posting the rainbow bridge, I have read it several times before and love it! This is truely the hardest loss I have experienced as far as pets go, he was sooo very special to us.

I understand your pain and I'm sorry for your loss.

I had to put my boy down 3 yrs ago this May (mother's day of all days). Our vet came to our home so that he could die where he was happy. Afterward, she set aside a special room in her clinic for putting pets to sleep. It's set up like a home would be so people and pets could be more comfortable She has a "memory" wall of pets in this room, and my boy is front n center, her favorite boy too.

I have to say that I'm grateful for the hole, my loss has left in my heart, it means I have had the greatest of gifts, the love of a noble soul. (and I've had many dogs, this one was just special).
