I'm so sorry. It's amazing how things like this happen. When I lost my dad to cancer, I was working horrific hours and barely got over to see him once a week if that. Then I was in a major auto accident that put me in the hospital for 6 days, then I had to recuperate for 2 months. That first week out of the hospital I stayed at my sister's while they helped me heal. My parents lived only a few miles away so my sister would drop me off there while she was at work, my dad and I would sit together in the living room all day both too weak to do much but kept each other company. My dad died a week later and I am so thankful for my accident as I got some really quality time with my dad as weird as that is. It sounds like the last two months were a healing time for you guys, try to focus on that, as it's really where you were all headed as a family. It's great he got to spend some time with his granddaughter and heal some wounds with your DH. Short I know but thankfully you have some good memories to share with your daughter about her grand dad.
