You can still eat the not as healthy things every now and again but it would mean you need to put an extra 20-30 minutes in your work out routines.

yeah I know about adding extra workout time...

I think I'm just bummed...sometimes we can have those..but I know that I cant dwell on it...
but its been that way for about a week...I cannot get out of this slump!

My wife has put on a few pounds these past years.

I remember telling her that when she got to big for me
to get my arms around her, I'll just pat her on her head.

What I'm saying is to not worry about your weight. As long
as you are healthy and happy, they make clothes in all sorts
of size.

It's more important to be a happy you who brings joy to
those around them, than to be an unhappy skinny person.

The true beauty in you has nothing to do with the size of your
clothes.

Losing weight is never as easy as finding it

my wife always says she is overweight I think she is just right You might reconsider your ideal weight and not beat yourself up over being over it. I am 200 lbs and would like to be about 190 for my height and frame. Going from 186 to where you are now is nothing to complain about, sheesh! I would be proud of that.

BEANS! Eat more beans and garden ya'll. Seriously--When I started eating beans everyday I started to lose weight--15 pounds so far!

I was always reallllly muscular and slim. I had a baby and then got Mirena put in. Well, I was around 5'4" and 170 pounds and couldn't lose it! After I got Mirena taken out it started falling off. It kind of stopped and then I started with beans. Pintos mostly, but lots of them. I eat them nearly everyday. I just heat up a pot and eat on it throughout the day. I still eat three large slices of pizza, ice cream and all that other junk. If I stop eating the beans--I stop losing weight. Maybe it revs your metabolism up, who knows.

When I was a skinny minny, I had a major bean diet too. We were poor and beans were cheap, LOL. I still ate like a horse though.

MMmMmm I love me some beans!

Don't give up! It is easy to feel like it's not going in the direction we want, but you can change that. Just get your willpower back and push yourself. You might have to push even harder this time, but do it for you!
I know how it feels...when I was a young teen I was chubby. I lost like 25 lbs. and kept it off until I was 20. Now I'm 22 and I've gained back most of that weight after taking diuretic pills. But since I have a summer job with the city it will keep me active and I will probably lose most of the weight that I gained.
Just find an activity that you like to do and stick with it. I know summer always meant weight gain for me because I'd be so sluggish from the heat (and I love eating ice cream....).

One thing I did when I would hit a "weight loss/maintenance" slump is to buy a nice outfit and buy it like 1/2 a size smaller. I would usually do that with a pair of nice jeans. I would work my bottom off trying to fit into that pair of jeans, and it usually worked.

Oh and try eating some pearled barley. I thought I wouldn't like that stuff...but wow, keeps me pretty full and I don't need to eat much of it, too. And when I work out, I always have to put on feel-good music that makes me want to dance and be happy and upbeat. That helps with my endurance.

I've come to the conclusion that there are simply some things, primarily stuff with sugar and flour, like cookies, cakes, pizza, etc., that I simply can't eat ever again, at least as a regular part of my diet. I ate a spoonful of banana pudding recently and literally gained 4 pounds of water weight a few days ago. The next day I felt awful, like I had a mild case of flu, but a day or so after after being back on track, I was fine. I can eat pizza toppings, and I've successfully eaten it that way and thrown the crust to the dogs (they think this is an excellent turn of events, lol).

I do not, however, avoid fats like the plague. I cook with real butter, eat eggs, and eat coconut oil. Our nervous system must have fatty acids to function. I avoid "industrial seed" oil like canola, though. I love olive oil and I use it on salads and on grilled fish. I feel great, am losing weight slowly but steadily and best of all I'm not hungry and I don't obsess over cookies and such.

One book I use as a guide is Gary Taubes' "Why We Get Fat & What to do About it".

Oh, and as an extra bonus, DH has lost 30 pounds since there's no junk food in the house and looks pretty doggone hot for a middle aged fella.

Sounds like food and the management of it has ruled your life for quite a while.

I suggest changing the channel in your head whenever you start to stress over food.
For instance: "I'm sick of thinking about eating or not eating, or WHAT to eat - I'm going to think about my favorite TV show now." Purposely change what you think about and if you practice doing this every time the thought / stress of food comes into your mind, it will get easier and easier.

Don't let food and eating rule your life.
