Oh my gosh...that must have been a horrible sight. I definitely feel the pain. It's so hard not to feel responsible and helpless, but, it is nature at work. It's something I'm struggling with here on the Farm. Nature..good and bad..go figure! I'm driving myself crazy running outside every time I hear an 'abnormal' sound from the coop!!!I know how you feel
A fox killed two of my hens-- my 2 favorites. I had heard something, a squawk, but assumed it was probably one of them laid an egg. Went outside, and found it dragging one away, one decapitated, one half-dead in the nesting box. It's horrible, because I feel responsible.
