It sucks to loose a favorite... The first chicken I lost was my favorite and I still can't get over it. Could you hatch some of her eggs? That's what I did and my sweet girl gave me a beautifull daughter an 2 sons from her eggs. I know how you feel. I read your story and started crying

It does suck

I just wish i knew what happened. I don't think my last hatch had any of her eggs in it but the one before did. Unfortunately all 4 of her eggs were cockerels but beautiful blue cuckoo cochins. I sold them to 4H kids

< I don't think any chicken could take the place of her, she was very special. I am gonna miss my little gardening buddy

she just loved to follow me around while i was digging around in the gardens waiting for me to find her a nice grub or worm. I had a little chat with the others last night and told them she was gone now

I doubt they understood what i was saying (crazy chicken lady) But i can tell they miss her especially my light brahma and partridge rock. Those 3 were always together.
