Lost power, chicks on heat.

I suppose every incubator would have a different draw. I have a Kill-a-Watt electric meter which reads real time current demand and draw over a period of time. I would think a person could calculate expected usage on a battery UPS given that info and plan accordingly. There may be better options, but the OP stated he did not want to buy an $$$ generator backup. So I just threw out the idea of an inexpensive battery UPS, which in many cases, I would think could provide backup power for hours.

I always cover my incubators with a thick towel or blanket. It will hold the heat inside. I have been without electric for 6-8 hours and the chicks/ducklings/goslings survived and hatched.
