I got him to eat some tomatoes, so that is good! He will let me pick him up, but if i touch his head he goes nuts.

I wonder if he has head trauma?
Do the best you can, if he ate a bit of tomato, then let him have a little more - it may make his stools a bit loose, but won't hurt him.
