Lost Scout

Grishkah let out an exuberant whoop as she rushed forward to meet the sword wielding human girl and another one throwing rocks. One of the rocks clanged loudly against Grishkah's metal armor and the orc bared her pointed teeth at Luella to show that it hadn't hurt her. "Mirdautas vras!" her rough battle cry added to the chaos in the camp as she swung her heavy club toward Ruby, whom she considered the greater threat.

Vorgak altered his course slightly, rushing toward Mark and Bagira. "Vorgak catch one time, humies!" he snarled in a barely understandable common tongue. "You again get!"

Luella leaped backwards in fear, the rocks spilling from her arms. She scrambled to pick some of them up again as Grishkah went after Ruby, and hurled another one at the female orc's head. "Go pick on someone your own size!" She screeched over the increasing noise level. If she couldn't wound the armoured orc, at least she could annoy it.

The horse in which Mark and Bagira were tending to spotted Vorgak first and reared violently, throwing both humans to the ground. The animal was still tethered to the tree and could not run off, but now both of them were in danger of being trampled by its pounding hooves.

"Bagira!" Mark shouted as he rolled to safety amongst a small grove of trees. He scrambled to his feet but could not see the woman behind the bucking horse.

Bagira heard Mark shout her name but didn't have a chance to look and see where he was before she was struck in the side of the head by one of the horse's hooves. Everything instantly went black as she was knocked unconscious, slumping back to the ground.

Strider saw the orcs coming towards him and loosed the arrow before throwing the bow over his shoulder and drawing his sword. "Come on then, let's dance." He said and took up a battle stance.

Ruby danced back from the orc's club, then lunged forward, slicing at the hand holding the club "Get to the horses and get out of here" She called out again, watching the orc.

Rosa whinnied and reared, her reins coming loose from the simple knot. She moved away from the humans, then turned to charge the orc.

Stone shook his mane and reached to pull on his reins, loosening them from the branch. He turned to the panicked horse and pushed against it, moving him away from the unconscious woman as he had been taught to.

Orkhan slowed his charge and stopped about ten feet in front of Strider. Draugnot slowed down, but rushed around and past Strider towards where Vorgak and Grishkah were engaging the other slaves. "You think you are smart..." Orkhan sneered through gritted, pointy teeth. He reached to his right side and drew his own sword, a long silver blade with rounded stones embedded in the handle. "Humie will be slave soon." He grinned devilishly.

Draugnot darted around Strider just in time to see Rosa charge towards Vorgak. He reached into a leather sack tied to his waist and pulled out three rounded razor blades with sharp, jagged edges. Arranging them expertly into his fist, he threw each of them towards the horse's rear end, aiming for her hindquarters.

Bayardo (the horse) was pushed away from Bagira by Stone, and seemed to relax slightly from the touch of the other horse. He was still tied, but stopped bucking and allowed Mark to see Bagira lying motionless in the dirt, a small trickle of blood coming down from her temple. The man ran to her side and began dragging her into the bushes by her shoulders.

Stone nickered and swiveled his ears, looking around at the fighting. He snorted and reached to try to untie the reins of Bayardo, though it was not the knot he was used to.

Rosa screamed and bucked, two of the blades finding her while the third had just cut some hair off of her tail.

Strider grinned and started weaving his blade in a pattern "Smarter than you" He taunted and started moving towards the trees, keeping his eyes on Orkhan, but moving so he could see the others without turning his head

The knot has been tied by Mark, who used a style of knot tying that was unique to Wedmor. It wasn't particularly difficult to figure out, but had been pulled incredibly tight when Bayardo bucked. It also didn't help that the horse was still pulling slightly against the bonds, which didn't make it easier for Stone.

Draugnot grinned as his razors found their target and Rosa began bucking. Now that she was no longer dead set on her path to impact Vorgak, he reached over his shoulder to grab the bow that was slung there, along with an arrow from the small quiver anchored behind his back. He set an arrow, pulled back the string and aimed generally for her. Due to her rapid motions while bucking he wasn't so concerned with going for the kill as he knew the chances of missing a small target were large. Instead, he let go of the arrow and hoped simply to hit her... somewhere. It didn't really matter where. He could shoot again if needed to finish her off.

Orkhan grunted, his eyes focused on Strider. He refused to be drawn into the taunting game so he stayed quiet, not really caring if that meant Strider would assume he was too stupid to respond. Responding to Strider's movements he also turned, keeping the diameter of their circle the same. He recognized that his opponent was attempting to turn Orkhan's back to the fray, and so he charged forward suddenly with the sword extended before Strider could make a full circle. Saliva sprayed from his mouth as he snarled, swinging his sword for Strider's sword hand.

Stone snorted and looked around for the humans. Without other instructions, he returned to the knot.

Rosa whinnied and bolted as the arrow grazed her chest.

Strider raised his sword to block, but moved back at the same time to help absorb the blow without losing his sword. The blades rang out as they clashed together. He used his sword to lead Orkan's to the tree now beside him attempting to have him bury it so it would be useless.

Bayardo seemed to realize that Stone was not out to hurt him so he stepped forward and released some of the pressure on the knot.

--

Draugnot set another arrow as Rosa bolted. This time he aimed for Stone as the horse picked at the rope binding Bayardo. He took the time to aim properly as Stone was standing almost perfectly still and narrowed one eye as he aimed and sent the arrow whizzing towards Stone's neck.

--

brb, and I'll reply to the last part! :)

Stone tossed his head, half rearing when Rosa bolted. He was surprised to feel the arrow as it grazed his neck then embedded itself in the limb, partially cutting the reins. He snorted and turned, disappearing into the forest.

Draugnot was disappointed that Stone had moved at the last minute, causing his arrow to miss. His movements also spooked Bayardo again and he reared in surprise. The weakened reins finally snapped, freeing the frightened animal and he too bolted into the trees. Draugnot retrieved the two arrows and the one remaining blade as the other two were still embedded in Rosa's butt, and looked for a second target.

--

Strider's plan worked and Orkhan's blade sheared along his, eventually coming to rest in the tree. He jerked it once but found that it was stuck good and wouldn't be pulled out easily. Letting go of it, he reached towards his left hip and pulled out a second blade. Clearly, it wasn't his main weapon as it was much shorter and looked less used. It was still lethal and sharp, however, as he faced Strider again. After underestimating the archers skill with the blade, he wasn't going to take his opponent as lightly anymore and waited for Strider's move.
