Lost Scout

"Atta girl, FLY" Strider called out to the mare, hoping she would remember her training enough to follow the command.

Rosa whinnied and struck out at the orc again, then flicked her ears at the familiar command and bolted towards Ruby, nickering for her master. Her hind leg was covered in blood by this time, and a trail of blood made it's way down her foreleg from the chest wound. She shook her mane and picked up speed again, heading for Grishkah

Jasper had met Lord Ragnar only a few times, and that was only because Corin had been called in to treat some minor ailment or injury among Ragnar's men. "He seems the reasonable sort," the surgeon's apprentice said hopefully, "but can't say for certain." He couldn't help but wonder what might happen if the nobleman doubted their story.

The thought weighed heavily on him as they continued their journey, unaware of the troubles that had befallen their friends, now miles behind.

The sword slashed through Grishkah's forearm, cutting down to the bone and she howled in pain as she switched the mace to her off hand, backing away from Ruby and Luella.

Vorgak had to leap back away from the horses as Bayardo danced and kicked, not wanting to get clipped by the horses's hooves. But as the horses fled, he looked to where Mark had dragged the woman into the nearby undergrowth and he plunged after them, unsure exactly where they were hiding, but knew they had to be close.

--

One of Luella's rocks cracked Grishkah right in the face and the female orc staggered backwards, as much out of surprise that such a puny human could inflict harm as out of pain. She turned her attention on the girl as blood dripped from her nose. Not knowing the common tongue, she spit something harsh in orcish toward Luella as she took a menacing step toward her.

Mark had managed to drag Bagira about fifteen feet into the trees before he needed to stop and rest. At that distance he was reasonably sure that she would be safe from the chaos of the fight as he didn't expect any of the orcs to venture that far away from the small clearing. Thinking that he was needed to help fight, he left her hidden beneath a bush without realizing that Vorgak had seen them disappear into the trees and was plunging after them.

--

Luella took a couple of quick steps backwards away from Grishkah but didn't drop any rocks this time. For a moment she thought that she had gone too far in throwing the rocks, she didn't even have a weapon to defend herself, after all, when Grishkah turned on her. At least it gave Ruby a chance to launch her own attack...

Ruby watched Grishkah, then glanced back as Rosa came barreling through the campsite and stopped, rearing next to her. She grinned and jumped onto the mare, then sent her forward, towards the female orc to attack.

Draugnot covered his head with his hands and coward under Rosa's hooves. His armour protected him from the worst of the blows, but still left him feeling battered and bruised when she finally left.

"STOP!!" Orkhan bellowed to nobody in particular, dragging Strider to his feet and drawing a sharp dagger to his cheek. With his left hand he held Strider in a choke hold around his neck, and with his right hand he pushed the dagger painfully into Strider's neck. He faced the hoard of slaves and orcs and repeated, "Stop, or I swear I'll spill his guts all the way to the river!"

Anna nodded in the dark room then spoke "Yeah, hey there's something else." She said, getting excited. She pulled out the wooden poles and hefted one "The poles for the hammock. We can use them as clubs"

Gytha perked up slightly at the news and pushed herself to her feet again, even though her body felt heavy and she knew she needed rest if she was to be the least bit effective in a fight. She moved slowly toward Anna, hands extended out in front of her until she bumped into the other girl. "Do you think they're still out there?" she asked quietly as she fumbled in the dark until she found one of the hammock poles, closing her fingers around it the makeshift weapon.

Vorgak grinned as he spotted Mark making his way back toward the fight. The orc scout wasted no time, wanting to catch the human while he was alone. Orkhan was shouting something, but Vorgak was too focus on his prey to hear what was being said. He moved quickly, sprinting toward the man with his club ready to strike.

Grishkah had to lunge to the side to avoid the horse, but she wasn't quite fast enough and the horse's shoulder clipped the orc on the arm that was injured. The orc fell to one knee, but she was still far from helpless and swung her club around, aiming for the horse's wounded hindquarters.

When Mark heard something approaching from behind him he thought that it must have been one of the horses returning to the campsite. He whipped around, expecting to see Stone or Rosa, and was shocked to see Vorgak. He tried to move backwards, but caught his foot on a tree root and fell backwards in his clumsy haste to move. Without a weapon, he threw up his arms in defence and rolled quickly to the side to try and avoid the club. He also heard Orkhan yell something, but missed his exact words as Vorgak suddenly attacked.

"I doubt it" Anna said softly as Gytha took the makeshift weapon from her. She picked up the hammock and stood. "Now how are we going to use this?" She asked

Ruby was too focused on controlling her mount and attacking the orc to pay attention to Orkhan with his first yell, but did glance back at the second. "Father" She cried out and turned Rosa towards Orkhan and Strider.

~~
Strider tried not to move as he fought the choke hold to get enough air. He winced when he saw Ruby turn towards them. "FLY" He called once again and used all his strength to push back against Orkhan.

~~
Rosa turned to flee

Vorgak's club landed with a heavy thud in the dirt barely an inch from Mark's head as the man rolled away. Undeterred, Vorgak sent a hard kick toward the human's stomach as he sneered. "Humie weak. Only good slave."
