I cam home last night to a hen who's upper beak was removed by a predator trap that I had set by the chicken yard (we've been having other issues).
She might have a quarter inch left of her upper beak, maybe less. I'm wondering if she'll be able to eat like that or if it would just be more humane to put her out of her misery.
Please help, I feel terrible and I have no idea the best thing to do. Have you had any beak losses? How much can they live with? How should I treat it so it heals best?
