LOTS of blood in egg...uh wtf???

I have noticed now that my same chicken is laying that same bloody egg almost every day. They are 1 of 2 dark brown eggs (welsummer) that I get daily. The bloody eggs were rare, then occasional, and this past week every day, so I won't be sharing those eggs any more.

I got one of these and my DS said he would eat it and he is still alive so it can't be to bad. He actually said that the egg tasted richer than the regular eggs that we get from the ladies.

sometimes the hens get blood clots and that's how it gets out...its real gross or its there getting older and less able to produce and it hearts for them

Oh my. That's a lot of blood. I stopped sharing my bantams egg because of a decent amount of blood. But wow.

This is an old thread, but my welsummer that always laid a bloody egg eventually stopped laying permanently around a year of age.
