I have many unique unknown breeds. I bought pullets at a show this year and was lied to. He had the all stuffed in cages so you could barely see them, but each breed was in each cage and they were all pullets. He says they are all just starting to lay/teens age, I didn’t even know that he burned or clipped their beaks until I got them. He picked them out I just picked out the breeds I liked. He never sent contact info or chicken info like he was supposed to. The pictures I posted are the ones I’m unsure on. Also the black polish looking one is acting funny I’ve only had them for about a week.

I think you are right to be concerned. It doesn't look like they were well cared for, and if he trimmed their beaks it means they were probably over-crowded. It's not a surprise, then, that they are acting strangely but it's also pretty normal. Chickens do not like change and a brand new home is the biggest change of all. They are likely traumatized or at least spooked. So give them time and treat them well. Hopefully they will recover and be normal, healthy birds.

Breeds:

Picture 1- Probably a black Polish or Crevecoeur. Seems a little underweight for a Crevecoeur but that could be because she's young. The bantam in this picture is a quail Belgian bantam, also known as D'Anvers.

Picture 2- I'm unsure of this one. Does it have a pea comb? If so, possibly a splash Sumatra or Sumatra/Yokohoma cross.

Picture 3- same as the black bird in Picture 1.

Picture 4- the bantam is a self blue Old English game. The black bird is maybe an Ayam Cemani or Sumatra cross. Or Svart hona. Not too sure on her.

Picture 5- Quail Belgain bantam or D'Anvers. She should have a rose comb.

Picture 6- Self blue Old English game bantam.

Quail Belgian is what he called it I remember him saying something about quail but it wasn’t a quail.
The black Sumatra is a cross she told me it was some kind of cross but didn’t say what kind.
Picture 2 I have no idea what a pea comb is she really doesn’t have much of anything on her he told me it was like a pheasant.

Also the crevecoeur has been acting a little funny and I know they have not been cared for at all it broke my heart when I got them home. The guy should be turned in but of course that’s why he didn’t send his info like he was supposed to.

This first pic is another view of that splash hen and the black bird is a bantam I was given two of them and no idea what they are. They are skidish, hard to catch, fly. The yellow ones are prolly barn crosses I got them from eggs and they are good layers!

Your chickens look a lot happier and healthier than the ones you got from that guy who didn't take care of them. So hopefully the new ones will adjust and look just as good with time.

I am not sure what the black bantams are-- probably mixes. The splash hen could be what I stated before, or maybe an American game, or some kind of mix. The yellow ones are mixes, maybe part buff Orpington.

I would still report him and just give as much info as you can, description etc and details of the show. Not sure if I misunderstand but I would also contact the show organisers, they may be able to provide more details, and someone could also contact other similar shows/events in the area and a but further afield to warn about the guy, he probably does the circuit and does this to other people too :(

I’ve been waiting on them to call me back I haven’t been able to get a hold of anyone. I even called other people I bought from to see if they knew
