Loud, Aggressive Cockerel?

Hi, I don't have a Roo, but I can sympathize with chicken shenanigans. I do love the look of your blue colored bird in your first pic, can you please tell me what she is? I have a lavender orpington and love her color and temperament too. I'm looking to add 4 more chickens to my flock of 7 next year, so just wonder what kind of chicken she is? Thanks....Kim

No, don't move him to the neighbor's; he's too old already to get along with their resident adult rooster. Injuries are likely!!!
He's not causing injuries, and has been polite to you, and all is well so far. If things change, that's another story.
You do know that your chicken wire won't protect your birds from most predators?!

Separating a randy roo could also make him people aggressive. Had that happen to one, though he could have ended up just being a jerk anyway. His name is stew btw. You just have to understand that roosters are going to do what they do and hens will do what they do. You can condition them to some degree, and do maintenance to help minimize issues that will come up- like hens losing feathers from an overly amorous roo, removing spurs, adding saddles - but this is all natural chicken behavior. The larger the run the better to allow everyone space - give the hens breathing room from the roo etc. I think it's like min 4 to 6 sq ft per bird outside.
