Today I was woken up by a call letting me know that my chickens where super loud, they asked if something was attacking them.
I ran outside and the pullets where extremely loud, loud enough to be heard blocks away. Looked for a snake or fox inside the aviary but all I found is that the two six week old chicks where sitting on the pullets eggs and the three pullets screaming at them just outside the nesting box.
My question is, where the pullets doing an egg song or where they angry at the chicks ?
If angry at the chicks, how do I keep the chicks out of the nesting box ?

Maybe both.
Have other places for them to get away from the older birds?
How long have the chicks been integrated into the flock?
Do the chicks sleep in the nests at night?
Pics of your coop interior might garner some solutions.

I am reconfiguring the coop tomorrow, will post pictures afterwards.
The chicks where integrated at three weeks of age. It’s interesting that the older pullets do not harass them inside the coop but the moment they are let out in to the yard, the young chicks have to be vigilant because the older ones are often chasing them.
They all nest together.

Is this the 'table' they are laying on?

I would suggest removing the cloth strips and/or make a perch about 8" out in front of nest openings.

aart, am not sure what you mean.
The pullet is laying the eggs in the nesting box and the chicks for some reason go to the nesting box and lay next to the egg. Which make the three pullets extremely angry and loud.
The box which you marked is where I keep the chicks feed and it’s also for the chicks protection in case the pullets get territorial.

the reason I put the strips of cloth on the nesting boxes is to make it slightly darker.
