It's so foggy here this morning you can't see across the road. I've been having problems w/the idiots, I mean people, who live down the road & got a new dog & think he needs to "roam" -- well he keeps roaming right up to my poultry pens & if I see him one more time I'm going to 'roam' him off to the pound. And they have a fenced in yard, too! It drives me nuts.

I hate people that don't keep their dogs on their property.

I got eggs from Banjoe twice and ended up with 4 chicks that way. 2 Roos and I don't know about the other two yet. I then bought a pair of 4 month olds...a roo and a pullet. Hopefully I will have more in the near future.

I sold 12 roosters yesterday and I am happy as can be. They are gone!!!!!!!

My roosters were 9 months to about 1 year old. I can get up to $15.00 for a rooster. But I don't push my luck too often. Depending on how bad I want them gone, I will go down to $10.00. This time I wanted them GONE GONE GONE, so I asked for $10.00. If a person buys more than 3, I will give me a deal. The reason is because this person could potentially be a future customer as well because I know that I will have more birds for sale in the future. I sold my 12 roosters for $85.00.

I feed my chickens an additional 30% protein, so my roosters are huge. I usually process them but I didn't want to deal with 12 of them right now. They make good gumbos and stews. A lot of meat on their bones.

Wow! That's a good price. My problem is where to keep them all until they're that age. What would be a good price if they were say 8 weeks old?
So you feed all of your chickens 30% protein? Where does that come from? Is there a feed with that much somewhere?

I'm not sure what your setup is like or how much space you have but I just keep mine in the chicken yard with the other animals until it's time to breed or time to sell. At that point, I catch and put in separate coops.

I guess your price depends on the breed you are selling. Some of the more rare breeds would be more than my barnyard old timers popular breeds.

As far as the extra protein, I use 30% Arrow Gamebird feed because I have turkeys, guineas and peafowl that require higher protein, so I feed my chickens an additional 30% protein in addition to their lay pellets and flockraiser, so my chickens tend to be more meaty but not fat. I can purchase 30% protein for $15.00 at a local feedstore near me. You could call around and see who sells higher protein feed.

That is a great price! We pay that much for regular laying pellets over here
