I thought about going, but it's such a long trip. I really don't have anything to get rid of besides a BCM trio that I just listed on craigslist, and I don't need to be tempted with a new breed!

Just wanted to say hi to my LA peeps. Is anyone getting decent amout of eggs yet..
Ive been busy, over the weekend I de-wormed and deloused birds and started breeding cant wait to do some hatching.
I have one little gaint bator and I borrowed two GQF Hova-bators over the weekend. I got to do some cleaning and disinfecting on them though. As bad as I was last year with one I dont know what I was thinking getting two more. I've sold alot of gamefowl even eleminated some bloodlines. Butchered alot of meat birds and eggs layers and still some to go. Feels weird only haveing 28 birds total.

I am getting about 2 1/2 dozen duck eggs each day and I"m selling them just as fast as they are laying them. I don't want any new duck hatches this year. Although I had to let 1 of my muscovy girls have a few eggs to set on so that she could incubate my turkey eggs. Other than that, the only hatches I am looking forward to are more turkeys, baby peas, geese, rabbits and sheep. The chickens and ducks had their time last year. I want a quiet and stress-LESS year. I want to be able to enjoy the animals this year instead of worrying about "baby-sitting".

Speaking of finding a few nests, I think Gracie cursed me when said that I would find hidden eggs. Well, lo and behold, I found the hiding spot. There was a hidden nest of chicken and duck eggs in a large dog house that someone gave me for FREE on craigslist almost 2 years ago. I noticed that there was too much coming and going in the dog house, so I decided to investigate. Now when I tell you this dog house is HEAVY, it is HEAVY. Someone built this on the same pattern of a "human" house. You can pick the HEAVY roof up and it folds back. Well, I picked up the roof of the dog house and used a iron pole to keep it in place while I investigated. The rest of the story is in the pics below: I counted roughly 35 eggs. I could tell there were more eggs because there were lots of shells in there. Those little sneaky rats pulled a fast one on me. They were laying eggs in the roof of the dog house. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT !!!! I WAS SO UPSET!!!!


So now I have put in medium pet carriers inside the dog house with hay and they have been laying in the pet carriers. All they had to do is tell me that's where they wanted to lay. So, I had to throw away all of those eggs.

Are you getting any duck eggs Mike? If so, how many are you getting?

Very few. I got 3 yesterday from my scovy 5 from my pekin and 6 from the mallards. Need 4-5 times that.

I know that you have a mess load of ducks over there, so how many eggs would be "normal" for you?

What are your hatching plans for the year? Hatchery numbers?

I should on a good day get about 52 duck eggs from my domestics,(scovy,pekin,mallard.rouen,swedish and mixed) I am gearing up for feb. sales at the feed store. but yea almost hatchery

I need at least 200-250 ducklings a month just for 1 feed store. I sell to 3 of them. Its about to get real busy around here. Egg sales have picked up really well and all these husseys are tryin to
hold out on me. I am about to start squeezin em a couple times a day
