"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Julie a guy I know has 3 older style incubators for $225.ea Cabinet gqf sportsman. Catch is he lives in OK so shipping would be another $75 or so. Interested ?
They are wafer style but work fine just not a easy as the new digitals but can be upgraded. I have 1 of these that work just as good you just dont have the digital read outs. A new one is about $700 delivered.

Good grief Tractor Supply is expensive! I had to buy a bag of lay pellets at a feed store in Covington last week and they were 11.99 for a 50# bag (13.13 with tax) and the lay crumbles were 12.85 (13.97 with tax). However, I usually scoot over to Crossroads feed in Mississippi. It is just a few miles from Bogalusa, so not much of a drive for me....like 25 minutes. Their lay pellets are 12.60 a bag and lay crumbles are 12.95 and their is NO tax on animal feed. I take a trailer and buy a month's worth of feed at a time since the savings really adds up when buying 16 bags of feed.

Oh, and I signed up for some sort of email with Nutrena and last month they sent me two coupons for Country Feeds: One for $5.00 off one bag and one for $2.00 off one bag. They also send coupons for horse feed. Most feed company's have mailing lists and offer coupons a few times a year: I'll take whatever discount they'll give me as long as it is a brand I am buying anyway.

I am with you on being a miser/ recycle queen Kuntrygirl.....I've always tried to find alternate uses for things rather than throw them out. Like make rugs out of old jeans and soy candles in spaghetti sauce jars. Being contractors we get a really unique chance to recycle and reuse though.

Almost all our buildings are built with lumber that was being thrown away on job sites. I talked to the builders and got their permission to take the form boards, and cast off materials. We have to pull a bunch of nails and sometimes their is a bit of concrete on the wood, but it works great for chicken coops and animal shelters! We also got a huge amount of trim: Rule was if it was cut and couldn't be returned I could take it. We have literally gotten trailer loads of decent lumber from dumpsters.

Also, when we install flooring for the stores, they throw out stuff that is extra and they can't return all the time. Instead of filling the dumpster with it, they would let us have it. We got enough Maple flooring to do a 12x16 bedroom and enough tile and stone to do all the floors in our house (2,400 sq ft) if we wanted to. All we have to do is pick it up and load it. Even if we don't use it ourselves, we know plenty of people around here that can and give it to them.

I use the 4x4 tumbled marble tiles we've acquired to do custom back-splash murals for our customers. I did this one last fall.....

It is also a bonus doing interior remodel for people in nice neighborhoods. Those folks have given us or asked us to haul away nice wool rugs, furniture, a side-by-side refrigerator, a nice gas stove, silverware, their old ceiling fans (which were brand new but they didn't like them)...the list goes on and on. It is unbelievability sad what people throw away or ask us to haul off. My favorite was an antiques 7' tall cast copper triple dressing mirror made in 1895. A lady asked us to haul it to the dump for her when we were remodeling her bathroom in Ohio. I asked if she minded if I kept it and she said..... Oh go ahead and if you want I also have this walnut armoire cabinet and a couple bags of designer clothes left over from a boutique I used to own.....you can have those too. I still have the mirror, but the cabinet was too heavy to haul so we gave it to neighbors before we left Ohio: It took 4 grown men to move it and even then they strained to do so!

For me, I think I would need a brand new incubator from a company in the event there were problems with the incubator, I could send it back. I would be afraid to purchase a used incubator from someone because it would be sold "As Is" with no refunds. Thanks for the suggestion though.

LUCKY YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!!! But I love to hear stories of great finds. :thumbsup

Beautiful tile. :love

Thanks! I love seeing how you reuse the things you find. It is always great to find people that love to re-purpose things as much as I do.

Good luck with your incubator search btw. I am SO envious of those with the cabinet incubators!

Thank you. I love it! And I also love seeing how others recycle things.

A cabinet incubator would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was picking eggs on yesterday and the VERY last egg that I picked was this monster.

I noticed that the eggs are getting bigger since I stopped using lay pellets.
Sorry about all of the pics but wanted you to see how long it was compared to different objects.

Julie, that sure looks like a goose egg to me. Where's your goose hanging out these days?
