"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Sorry for the horrendeous post but I don't know how to edit this crap on this new layout yet still learning, this is why i don't post too much as it takes me longer to fix my posts than it does to come up with them in the first place, I passed typing class with flying D-(minuses) Lol

Hey there La-yers Just checking in on all ya'll this mornin' i reckon everybody's still afloat. anyway Chris if you see this i was wondering if you did or didn't get cBarred rocks form Matt or just reds. i was wondering what line his are from the same as Mrs. Kathys and jwips or straight form Frank Reese(Good Shepard Farms). If you have have or know of a couple or three pullets for sale I'm interested buying some as I have 6 big ol' roosters from Mrs. Kathy and I'm sure to be able to get a good breeder male out of 6 I had gotten 11 from her but some did'nt make it from her to me via my brother so that was probly my pullets in the bunch.

Ok I guess I figured it out you have to post it then use the little pencil at the bottom to fix it I reckon? LOL

Quick Hi from me! We're all doing fine here, can't believe how much the RIR chicks are growing - this weekend I"m going to move them out to the grow out pen! the peas are fanning like crazy but no eggs yet. Everybody else is in high egg production mode so I guess spring has sprung. The mosquitoes are just awful already, aren't they? and my aunt who lives across the road from us saw 2 coyotes running across the field yesterday, so time to keep the rifle near by!

OK have a good one everybody, we WILL be getting a new home computer so I'll be able to keep up & maybe post without a lot of errors (sneaking online at work right now)!

yay! my girls are laying again! it's about time, Oh my gosh those two just haven't wanted to lay for the longest time...they're so fickle.

Jeff,
Matt's BR's are the Good Shepard line but I'm not sure if he got them from Jwip or Frank. He seems to know them all so I really don't know. His NH's came from the guy Kathy got her's from and his red's came from friends of Bob B. I have not gotten anything from him yet but I'm hoping that I will have the BR's and NH's by the end of the month. The RIR's will be a little longer but maybe by the end of next month.

I'll PM you Matt's number and you can talk to him about getting some more BR's if you would like. If they will be ready I can pick them up for you and bring them back to La if you like and we can then meet up somewhere. Just let me know how I can help. Have you ever seen the BR's full grown? OMG, I was blown away when I saw some in FL a couple weeks ago....I can't wait to get mine!!!!

Chris

Terri, I thought about you on yesterday when I was in the chicken yard and it was soooooooooooooooo quit (WITHOUT ALL OF THOSE ROOSTERS!!!!!) I only have about 3 roosters and they are quiet roosters who don't subject the girls to a hostile chicken environment.

Post pics of your RIR when you get a chance. I hope that you don't have any trouble with those coyotes.

I still haven't seen the peas play doctor and nurse and still no eggs. :(

Here are my latest inventions. A covered structure to protect the sheep's hay from the weather.

And this is just a mini feeder for the goat who tears up EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep mr. know it all says coots they be  :gig
Oh and Julie :tongue

I have a Ruger 1.77 thats bad to the bone. Easy to cock, load and fire. Have done in foxes. rabbit, a few night time and daytime feathered villains. Nice and quite too :)

Mike, guess what I bought?

That baby is powerful. I took out a lot of cans on yesterday. I pity the opossum and raccoon who cross my path. :) I'm armed AND dangerous now. :lau

Chris

Thanks Chris I replied to your PM On the BR no I haven't seen them full grown not live but I do have six 5 month olds from Mrs. Kathy and they are garganteous already and I have the project guys and girls from Mrs. Kathy also which are half BR and NH and these guys may even be bigger than the BRs I swanney 3 of them must be at least 10-12 lbs, I'd say as big as Orpingtons maybe even JG's and they are just a year old and still have more growing to do as these heritage type birds fill out much slower than factory stock and I can see why, there's no way their system could take it if they grew this much in a few months (just think CornishxRocks here), Anyway maybe I could get pics of them posted on here of these guys compared to my full grown 2-3 year old production type roosters on here (if i ever get to photo any) absolutely enormous, so is my 10 mth. old NH boy too he's as big or bigger now than the 2-3 year old production/RIR's guys.

Anyway how do to all ya'll fine La-yers hope everone is good and has a great day.

Jeff
