"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ok folks I need to put a little input on this NPIP. First off anybody selling a chicken or any other fowl or eggs across a STATE line that is not NPIP is breaking the law. It is required to ship either in almost all states. I ship eggs and birds daily and dont want fines or anything else so thats the main reason I am NPIP I also know that bio security is a viable argument to a point but you cant control everything. I personally dont let anyone in my pens mainly because I have quite a few wild breeds and expensive breeds that I cant afford to replace if I lose them for something simple as that. I also dont buy from anyone that isnt certified just for the sake I know some of the known issues wont be present. I quarantine any bird that come from somewhere else also. Julie has a leggit reason for what she does and not everyone has those reasons so wether you choose to be NPIP or not or as bio protective, is each persons perrogative and what suits there needs :) That said I believe all sellers should be certified and the sellers and breeders that are not should be and no one should actually purchase from one that doesnt have the respect to test their flocks. I am not speaking of backyard hobbiest I am speaking 100% on breeders. The laws state you are supposed to be and I personally feel if you are ducking the testing theres probably a reason.
Welcome to the newbies
Congrats on the hatch missy told you you were gonna love that bator
Hope everyone else is fine and ready for more storms
Still lookin for whiskeybay if anybody runs across her.

The part in bold I agree with so much! It's kinda like "Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD!!" Why would you risk everything just cause your lazy?? Cause if someone has that much business as Jeff mentioned then even in the states that charge for it you can afford to have it done. But one day when it comes back to bite someone on the butt and they get fined out the wazoo...... Well it'll be interesting then!!

Thanks Mike!! Yes you were so right!! Guess I'll be making you some cookies!! What's your fav??? ;)

Ooh, got chickens at the Covington Swap Yesterday!! Unfortunately, I wanted to go to the parade in Slidell, so I didn't go to the feed store there and get feed so I hope the cracked corn I got from Petsmart is ok until the feed store here opens this morning. They were closed yesterday. My little girl is really dissappointed because mommy didn't make it clear to a guy to save a coronation sussex for her, so no pink eggs for Laila, but we did get two straight run chicks that could lay any color. Unfortunately they went to their other moms house and she wouldn't let them on the computer to even see them, let alone name them! (I have a few choice words for her daily!)

Nice looking birds!! :thumbsup

And crooked too?? Had to turn my laptop on it's side!! ;)
