"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Terri, I finally was able to catch one of my boys fanning this weekend. I can't wait until next year when their tail is fuller. :/

Awwww they're so handsome! I wish I had an India Blue! I'll be glad when mine get fuller tails next year, too. I got some golfballs I'm putting out in the pen tonight. Mr. Burt said his always laid in the evening, too.

Thanks Terri. I'm excited about setting the eggs. Keep us posted on if any golf balls come up missing.

Good afternoon everybody! I have to go catch up on posts. I agree Missy, that looks like a copperhead to me.

Jeff I'm sure sorry i missed meeting you! Of all days, today we're on deadline at work to get some tax stuff that has to go out today, plus I had a Dr apt. Hope you enjoy the RIRs! Sorry you didn't take that last roo!

I have two very handsome RIR roos free to a good home. Take one! Take both! They will be 4 months old on the 24th of April. They are going to be huge! They are heritage bloodlines (Roy Autry & somebody else, I forget but I have it written down at home). I hate to send them to freezer camp but I don't want or need 3 roos (I'll keep one though, just because I like these so much).

Congrats on the guinea hatch Julie! When I first started incubating I had a couple of zero hatches. You learn a little bit more every time you do it. Like almost anything else I guess.

OK back to work for me!

Terri, if it's down to the final hour and no one wants the RIR roos, let me know. I'm thinking that I can use them to breed with my 40 girls so that I can hatch RIRs next year. Let me know if know one messages you about them, then I may take them off of your hands. I have 40 lovely queens that your boys would love to take out on a date and they would have a forever home with me. :)

And I am definitely learning more and more with incubating.

Deridder. You?
I'm your neighbor -- I'm in Sulphur.

Hey Terri and the rest of ya'll La-yers too. Yeah we were running a tight fast time schedule anyhow as we had to hurry and get back to Gods country(Vernon parish) LOL. Anyhow it was a pleasure meeting Jim and we may be back in town at the end of the week to get the engine parts from the machine shop if so and I have that big ol' passel of beans picked I shall swing by and drop some off. I didn't get to bring any like I thought I would cause I went down Sunday morning to pick them expecting there to be an overload of them (should've been after the rains) but the Doe(s), (I'm sure) and fawns got to them Saturday night way up in the A.M. hours before anybody else got to reap any of the produce. Venison and beans is staring to sound like "What's going to be on the dinner menu" for some time now. It's not deer season now but they have just moved into the nuisance/pest/varmint category and for me that season goes on all year long round here.

Anyway the RIR's are a joy and so pretty those boy's sex feathers are going to be so dark almost black instead of mahogany/brown, the girlies are right at POL and are at the most beautiful point of there growing up they say this when to really look at them to get you best qualities and character points form them right before and right when they first began to lay. So pretty and you "dun" good on their raising up I can tell they were well handled and imprinted good as they took to me just as if I'd raised them up from hatch too very good sign of temperament too. thanks you and I'd a took that other male but I have 16 reds from Chris growing out now and looks like I'll have plenty to choose from them too looks to be more the 50% in the bunch too that's about normal for me anyhow usually about 60/40 or more like 70/30 male/female ratio on my doodaddys and hatches.

Jeff

PS Terri I didn't remember to ask Jim of you for that matter what are you feeding your pea fowl? If just straight layer feed might ought to up their protein to a game bird feed or even adding a higher protein ration such as Manna Pro "Calf manna" or Lonestar's equivalent " Nutri-boost" mix either/or at a 2 to 1 ration of layer feed to hi-pro feed and see in a couple of weeks the pea girls don't produce you something,This is the ration/ratio i use for my breeders during their breeder time and egg gathering for hatches, seems to do good for me it would be like mimicking their natural diet of bugs and higher protein foods found this time of the year. JMHO as I Jim and I also talked about a little is they may be still yet a little immature may be next season before them girls are ready to go for it.

Roy Autrey and Ryan Family Farms FYI, LOL
