"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I had to post this last pic of the day. For those of you that don't know, I foster wild/feral cats. A co-worker got me involved in this and I love it. When they capture wild/feral cats, they spay and neuter them, give them shots and place them in foster care. I take them in and work with them for months until they are not wild anymore. After that, I bring them back and they are put up for adoption. I just love working with the feral cats. And when I say wild, they are literally "untouchable". You cannot touch them for weeks at a time. They usually live under my bed or my back room for a month before they come out and allow me to touch them and that touch may last a full 3 seconds and that's it until the next day. I have it set up to where they do not have to come in contact with me unless they want to. After about a month's time, is when I can actually touch them for about a minute. Doesn't sound like a lot of time huh? But it is when you are dealing with a feral cat that has never been touched before by a human being EVER in their life. Upon getting them for the first time, if I tried to touch them they will begin their hissing and biting and scratching, so I leave them alone until they are ready. When they let me know that they are ready for human contact is when the cat/human relationship begins. It's a work in progress every day but it's fun.

I can remember after a month or so, when I had to take Tyler (that's his name) in to get his shots, they vet and workers were sacred of him because they dealt with him from Day 1 when he was a wild cat but I assured them that Tyler was not going to be a problem. Well lo and behold when I picked him up from the vet at the end of the day and I asked them how did Tyler do, they were amazed at how far he had progressed. One of the vet techs commented that Tyler let her do ANYTHING to him. She could poke and prode him, touch him, and everything else and he just sat there and allowed it. I was so happy to hear that. :)

Anyway, this one particular cat was THE WORST cat that I have had to foster. He was like a WILD Tiger in the Jungle!!! I worked with him and was determined to bring out the teddy bear out in him. Well, I finally broke the barrier and many months later, he was FULLY "re-habbed" and he was adopted to a very loving family. When the adopted parents adopt them, they stay in contact with the adoption agency by sharing stories and pics. Well, this is the latest pic of my "Tyler". I fell out laughing when I saw this pic. I CANNOT believe how far my boy has come from Day 1 until now. They have this little boy spoiled rotten. From Rags To Riches. From the Streets To a Loving Home. :love

Here is My Tyler Boy. :love :lau The little girl that now has Tyler absolutely LOVES him and it shows in this pic.

LOVE this picture. He sure found a nice home and a comfy place to sleep. It is awesome that you do the cat fostering and were able to tame his inner jungle cat!

I just wanted to share what I had hatch yesterday. These are Barred Rocks and Cornish from Good Shepherd, along with a couple New Hampshires and 4 things not like the others...quack...

They look a couple days old to me, are they the ones, who's mama wasn't nursing them because she had no milk? I am glad they are doing so well! The milk problem has not been a problem for me, at least not yet, thank God! I always breed at least 2 on the same day, so if anything happened to one doe, I have the other doe for milk, even if she has to nurse in shifts. Also I find that is I would ever get a very large litter and a very small one, at the same time, say one has only 6 and the other has 14, I could take 4 from the 14 and give them to the 6, so mamas can nurse 10, but 14 is a little much! I would not sell any of these that got switch, but they would taste good at 12 weeks. Rabbits are very good at adopting other's kits. I have never had a problem with that. Do you have other rabbits besides these?
Yes Jeff, the pagan goddess called Eastar, whose' followers went into the woods in the Spring right after the equinox and rolled eggs around and had orgies, like rabbits, to worship their fertility goddess and gods, for blessings of fertility, but I can't understand how Christians adopted these symbols and linked them to Christ's Crucifixion, that Passover is about? Christ became our Passover, by his death, ushering in the age of GRACE, through which we can be forgiven, when we repent for our sins?
The same way they do Santa for Christmas eg. and every other marketing ploy ever known to man. I don't figure in the bottom feeder world of greedy money grubbers who thrive off of the ignorance of people, dwell many (true) Christians. IMO

but will stop here as religion(s)/non-religion topics/discussions never ever goes over too well amongst anyone where there is more than one maybe two people in a crowd.

I got my new layers in from McMurray Hatchery this morning. They all arrived intact, but the Minorcas I ordered are TINY! Hopefully they all make it, and I will have tons of fresh eggs by the end of the summer!

I also got a mystery chick in my box. He is white with a beard and yellow legs. He is the biggest chick of the bunch, and looks nothing like the EEs that I ordered. Curious to see what he turns out to be!

Good luck! And post a pic, mabye someone knows!

Fantastic!
I'm working with two wild ones right now -- they have gotten to the point that they are waiting for me to bring their food twice a day, & they have started "talking" to me -- both are females so I want to get them tamed down enough to have them spayed before they both end up pregnant!

Good morning everyone! What a great weekend. Although I stayed inside in my PJs ALL DAY on Saturday, I managed to muster up enough energy to step foot outside on yesterday. The weather was nice! The chicken yard is drying up very nice. I think I can get a dump truck of sand in the yard this week if the weather remains this way.

I took a few (well maybe more than a few) pics this weekend to capture the beautiful weather.

There sure was a lot of BASKING going on over at your place! I did a bit of basking myself!
