"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Does anyone know anything about Mayhaw & JuJubee trees?
When I was married to my ex we had a Jujube Tree. It is a very slow grower and you'll end up with little trees everywhere. The fruit is similar to an apple -- good. Just slow to produce.

If you like lemons you'll definitely want a Meyers Lemon Tree. It produces HUGE lemons that are sweeter than your typical store bought lemons.

Also, look for Satsuma Trees (similar to a madarin orange). Satsumas are easy to grow in the south and very good to eat. I also enjoyed my naval oranges but they will take a little longer to produce because you need to let your tree grow stronger the first year because the fruit is too heavy for young branches. Of course, you MUST have a Kumquat tree if you like citrus. Two basic varieties are sweet and sour. You'll want to be careful there. I LOVE the sweet ones and hate the sour ones -- my mother is the opposite. It's a personal preference there.

We also had Methley Plums. Plum Trees, Peach Trees, and Nectarines will all grow here too but these fruit trees require regular sprayings for optimal fruit bearing. You'll need to read up on this.

Yes, on the Muscadines! You can train them to grow horizontal on a fence or wire. Be careful though, it becomes very heavy on a fence and during one of the hurricanes it pulled our fence down. By "training" the vines you control them from taking overy your yard and get a much better harvest. There are lots of varieties of Muscadines. Again, do your homework!

I plan to plant blackberry bushes once I'm settled. There are lots of thornless varieties that produce large fruit.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if my girls are pregnant or not. They look pregnant but I'm not sure.

I got my silkies from Gracie earlier this week and she was great to work with. I think shes been hatching some babies too!

I am pretty sure she got my splash from Mike a few weeks ago. :)

So I lay them on the turner--just on their sides instead. Then I turn them 3 x tip to big end. I think I have it. After seeing the peas Jeff brought home my kids are all excited about the day we drive over to your place to get eggs. They can't wait to see the peas you have. LOL

And now....thanks to crazy folks at school giving me a wild bunny...MY KIDS ARE BEGGING FOR RABBITS!!!!! Geez. All I really know about rabbits is that my brother bred a few for Ag in high school--HUGE white ones and for some reason they weren't taking and I had to go outside with a string tied around the females tail and hold it up for her so she could get inseminated from the giant male. What a way for a teenager to spend a weekend.

Not sure I want to visit that experience again. If I decide to do it, someone here will have to tell me what kind of rabbits to get for them. They will eventually have offspring that will be eaten.
Julie told me about a guy out her way with rabbits. My granddaughter and I went there and picked out two female litter mates 6 weeks old. One is larger and brown (like Peter Rabbit) and the other is black with white hairs mixed in. He has white ones, too. They are both very healthy and growing nicely. We love them. He was very nice, too and I liked his set-up. I deleted his info from my phone, but Julie can tell you if you are interested. They are 3 months old now.
