"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

He is right about being patient. I don't like the long wait for the goose eggs.

Chicken eggs are soooooooooooooooo much easier than goose eggs.

Will you cool and mist your goose eggs when the time comes?
I do plan on cooling and misting. This is my first time with goose eggs. I think that's part of the reason why I'm so dang impatient! Plus, this is my first experience with shipped eggs. So this is like a double whammy for me. So, I'll just pray and keep my fingers crossed

You will need a LOT of praying and fingers crossed. My first time incubating and hatching goose eggs (last month) was a nightmare and there were only 2 eggs that were fertile and both of them hatched. It was nothing but luck on my side because I was a nervous wreck throughout the entire process. The cooling and the misting is what I don't like. :/ It's a pain to do. And I made the mistake of laying down to take a nap while they cooled for 20 minutes (wink wink) and fell asleep and didn't wake up until 5:00 AM the next morning. So there went that. I thought that I had killed all of them but I put them back in the incubator. I see that 2 are zipping this morning but I smell something rotten in there. I think it's a done deal. I think I killed'em. :he Oh well.

Rough day down south? Lol Played with the chickens and dog outside today a bit before the rain, trying to get my Aussie lab mix to round up the girls before I go to work...heh! She protects them and plays with them but slow on the round up lessons. I do get so fricken excited when she did get one of them in! Whew! I was clapping n hollering and she gave up and ran over for some love. Doh! She'll catch on

Took a couple beehive pics, some more plant pics, transplanted some Oak seedlings...tended to the fish and went off to work

What a great way to begin the day. I need to start working on training one of my dogs to herd the girls for me!

That's awesome! Can't wait to see pics of the new babies.

Welcome to BYC from your nearly neighbor in Bush!

I don't think my goose babies are even developing...

I tried to post some pics last night via the iPhone, but it was acting crazy. Hubby told me to be patient... I'm trying, but it's SO HARD!!! I can usually spot some kind of life by now. I'm hoping that they are just going to be "late bloomers". I placed them in the incubator on 4-25. These pics are from last night. I guess that I will have to make myself wait to candle again until Friday or Saturday...

Typically with goose eggs, the earliest you can detect anything is 4 days, but that embryo is VERY small and hard to see. By day 7 though, you should see well defined veining in the egg. I just removed eggs set on the 24th because they failed to develop (I set 6 eggs that day and 3 developed). However, if you have no developing eggs to compare against, I would wait until 9 days to remove them.

Just for curiosity sake, what breed are the eggs from?
