"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

mzstre, don't scream at me but I did miss calling you this weekend. I got side tracked when my friend called me and told me about the free chicks at Old Tyme feed store. After getting all of those chicks, I was rushing trying to get home because I couldn't turn on the air because I didn't want to freeze them to death, so therefore, I had to keep the air turned off and I was sweating like a cat at a dog kennel because it was so hot on Saturday. I got half way down the road and it hit me that I had not called you to pick up the containers. I am so sorry. :hide Is it ok if I get them on May 18th? I have another class in 2 weeks and I promise you that I will get them up. Please let me know if you will be home and I will go on that day. Sorry again. :hide

Does anyone spin wool?

LOL I saw those pics of the cute little chicks and I knew exactly why I didn't hear from you. :D. It worked out, though. We did end up having to drive to Hammond to buy the truck from my FIL. I didn't have your phone number or I would have called to let you know.

We'll probably be home, but you can pick them up even if we're not there on the 18th. I can leave them in front of the carport and let the neighbors know. :)

LOL. Thank goodness. I said to myself, "Self, she is going to scream at you when she talks to you". I'm sorry, I thought I sent you my number. I will PM you my phone number.

I blame my friend for texting me and telling me about the free chicks. She had text me a pic of the ad in the newspaper while I was in my class and once she did that, it was ALL OVER. I couldn't wait to get out of my class to drive there. I had already purchased feed but I went ahead and bought more feed so that I could get the free chicks. All you had to do was buy 1 - 50 lb bag of feed and they gave you 10 free chicks. So the crazy person that I am, I told them that I wanted 5 bags of feed. Now we can all do that math, so you all know how many free chicks I drove away with huh? Yep - 50 FREE CHICKS! :hide Me and my chicks were riding high on Hwy 190 back home. :gig They all made the trip just fine. I noticed that one was moving VERY slow and I was worried about it. I picked it up and noticed that it had a pasty butt. There were a few others as well that had a pasty butt but this one was bad. When I got home, I cleaned the butt off and squeezed it a bit to allow the poop that was clogged up to come out. That little bitty's intestines was FULL of poop!!!! I see why the little fella was half dead. Poor thing. If I wouldn't have squeezed the poop out, he would have died because it was backed up in his intestines. After cleaning him off, he was up and running around within an hour's time. I put a zip tie on him so that I would know it was him.

I will call you after class to let you know what I am done. I guess you can give me directions at that time and I can come over. Thank you for your patience. Much appreciated. Let me know if there is anything that I can bring to you for you being so nice to give me a couple containers. Not sure if you enjoy "spirits" but if so, I can bring you a bottle of my home made wine :hide and whatever else you may want.

I wish I had everyone's number because I would have sent out a mass text to everyone to let them know about the free chicks. The feed store had ordered more than 1000 chicks and they were so happy to see them GO !!!!!!!!

For anyone that has goat and sheep and if you ever know of any goat/sheep/FAMACHA trainnig, I highly recommend that you attend the training. The goat/sheep/FAMACHA training that I attended on Saturday was EXCELLENT. As gross as this is about to sound, they had fresh poop for us to mix and put on a slide and look at it through a microscope. I was like a kid in a candy store testing that smelly poop. :D With that microscope that I got for FREE on craigslist a couple of years ago, I can now test fecal from all of my sheep AND chickens and other animals. They taught me how to use my microscope. :ya Now I know what to look for and I know what worms look like. :D

During the class we also participated in tasting goat meat "products" that they made/cooked and sell to the public. We ate soup with goat meat in it, goat boudain and goat boudain balls. :/ The jury is still out on that. :/

Just wanted to share a pic of my buddy Bart. What a sweetie!! He is now about 10 weeks old.
He's a beauty!

SOOOOOO cute!!!

Nice. I love the chocolate one.

Wow! I miss a day and you guys go crazy with fuzzy butt pictures!

Nice baby pic everyone! Love the polish hair do. He needs a bottle of that morning hair tamer. LOL

The coop is coming along great Johnny, keep it up!

I think I have pneumonia. Could be bronchitis. Who knows. Chest is rattling and hard to breathe. I'm coughing. My head isn't stuffy and my nose isn't running. It is all in my lungs. I CANNOT afford to take any more days off of work so I have to tough it out until school is over for me -- which means I can actually go to the doctor on June 3rd-- or until I fall out. Whichever comes first. Unless, of course, I run fever. Then work will send me home forcefully. I started with my son's inhaler this morning, been taking my cough meds from last time, my usual allergy medication, and drinking lots of warm green tea with honey. I feel better today than yesterday. This mess better clear up. It doesn't seem like the same thing my son had. He had awful congestion with his cold but his lungs were clear.

I rearranged some birds yesterday and cleaned out coops for the week. Happy birds today.
Thank you!!!!

Chickbelle - I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.....you shouldn't mess around with either illness. The longer you go w/o seeing a doctor, the longer you are likely to have to battle for a full recovery.

Now, I'll get off my soapbox. I hope it's just a bad chest cold and wish you a very speedy recovery!!!

Awesome! I would love to learn about this. I don't have any farm animals other than chickens but the science is most interesting.
