Has anyone ever dealt with an eye worm?

I'm pretty sure one of my silkies has one, and I plan to treat it with VetRx, If that doesn't work then it going to be the ever trusty ivomec!

That doesn't sound fun. Let me know how it turns out.

Eye worm? That sounds gross and cool at the same time. Lol

I had never heard of it either until I saw someone post about it on a facebook page. Apparently it is carried by roaches, but I know we don't have a roach problem. Now they have eaten their fair share of june bugs, so maybe they are carriers as well?

From what I've read so far, it can destroy the eye if not treated. I am a little wary of putting Ivomec directly in her eye, but it's gotta be better than her losing it to a worm! Apparently it can't be transmitted directly to other birds. My research shows that it is transmitted through an intermediate host (the cockroach), so even though I haven't seen any I will mix up a batch of permethrin spray and go crazy with it! Birds, coops, and all will get treated! This one little worm has given me the hebbie jebbies!

You may not have seen any cockroaches because they ate them all up?

Chicken belle, I'm really sorry you are having a hard time with your orps. We will all have to reap what we sew. I know a guy pretty close to me that has jubilees. I can check and see if he has any for sale if you like. They are really nice birds. I had a little better luck at the PO this morning. My Bielefelder pair came in. Meet Ozzie and Harriet
