from Alexandria!

Chicken belle, I'm really sorry you are having a hard time with your orps. We will all have to reap what we sew. I know a guy pretty close to me that has jubilees. I can check and see if he has any for sale if you like. They are really nice birds.

I had a little better luck at the PO this morning. My Bielefelder pair came in.

Wow! Nice!

I had never heard of it either until I saw someone post about it on a facebook page. Apparently it is carried by roaches, but I know we don't have a roach problem. Now they have eaten their fair share of june bugs, so maybe they are carriers as well?

From what I've read so far, it can destroy the eye if not treated. I am a little wary of putting Ivomec directly in her eye, but it's gotta be better than her losing it to a worm!

Apparently it can't be transmitted directly to other birds. My research shows that it is transmitted through an intermediate host (the cockroach), so even though I haven't seen any I will mix up a batch of permethrin spray and go crazy with it! Birds, coops, and all will get treated!

This one little worm has given me the hebbie jebbies!
I would definitely be having heebie - jeebies too!

I would love pricing on eggs and chicks from jubilee orps! I haven't found them for less than $99 per chick anywhere. Your new pair is gorgeous!

YES, this site is VERY addicting. My hubby says that I need BYCA (Backyard Chickens Anonymous). He just about fell over on the floor

. Don't feel badly - I spend more time on this site than I do Facebook, too! I'm mostly a "lurker" though, don't post much but I keep up with the guys & gals on this thread. They are all great and willing to impart knowledge, give you a shoulder to cry on, listen to you rant and rave, just whatever you need

Need some advice/opinions about this.... I candled again last night. I have two egg babies that are all swimming and happy (yeah!), but this one... I'm not to sure about. I tried to take some pics of it... I just don't know what to make of it. Is it viable? Did it die? Should I give it a little more time? Thanks in advance y'all!
