"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

For 2 weekends in a row, I have made THE BEST meals (beef veggie soup one weekend and turkey chilli this past weekend) and I could bet a thousand dollars that I can not go back and recreate the same meal with the same seasonings, etc. That makes me so mad. But I'm glad that I made a big gumbo pot of both meals and I was able to free a lot of stuff.

However, I did enjoy a nice glass of muscadine wine and I made a 10 egg (duck eggs) pound cake. I cut the pound cake up in slices and froze them as well. I can't get my freezer fast enough.

I will have to call around locally to get pricing on organic feed. As far as the set up, I will build a chicken tractor (will try to build it myself) to keep the broilers in for 8 weeks. I have been reading about raising broilers and I have to make sure that I am familiar with how much they eat on a daily basis so that I can estmiate how much I will be paying for feed.

The brand I buy has probiotic in the feed. You don't need to ferment it. It you do it ferments overnight. It smells like fresh bread dough after soaking overnight. Pam

Sleep? What's that?

I love the idea of soap making. As soon as I find a time frame to fit that in, I'm all on top of that soap making.

We started making pottery a couple of years ago. We're working on a studio after that's finished I will venture into soap making. I love using home made soap. It's very expensive at our local farmers market.

All sounds FABULOUS!!! I have been craving a beef vegetable soup!!!! I never pass up a good chili either! I don't think I need to mention the wine, but seldom do I meet one that doesn't work for me! Do you have the recipee for the 10 egg pound cake? Or, tell me where to look for it. I'm assuming you can use chicken eggs. We are turning into a regular egg factory!!! LOVE IT!! :celebrate
I found the recipe on this site. Here ya go. I substituted the Crisco and I used Butter instead. I tried it with the Crisco a few months ago and it tasted like a Lard Pound Cake. You could taste all of that nasty Crisco shortening . So I changd up and used real butter instead. Taste soo much better. . https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/212913/10-egg-pound-cake
10 Egg Pound Cake 3 cups sugar 2 cups Crisco shortening 10 eggs 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour 2 tsp vanilla 1 tsp salt 1/4 cup Pet milk (edited to add: Pet is a brand name of evaporated or condensed milk. Dont use "sweetened condensed" milk) 1 tsp rum flavoring 1/2 tsp almond flavoring (optional) Cream Crisco and sugar together well, then add eggs, beating very well after each. Add salt, flavorings and milk, then flour. Bake in an extra large tube pan that has been floured and greased. Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours. Check after 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cake is done if knife inserted in center comes out clean.
