"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I’d love to come but that’s a “working” weekend for me – I have to come in that Sat & finish up payroll. Be fun to watch though. Bet I’d find a new breed I just couldn’t live without!
That sucks Terri...I was hoping to finally meet you there! Can't those people wait a couple days for those pay-checks? LOL!!!

It's true. Ihave some weird things that i would like to see in my lifetime. I won't mention most of them because it's "not normal" but then again, I"m not normal. :(

That's why we all get along so well!!! :thumbsup

Yes, but if I told you some of the things that I want to see in my lifetime, I would be banned from this thread AND BYC !!!!!!! It's Norman Bates and Hannibal Lector kinda thoughts.

For 2 weekends in a row, I have made THE BEST meals (beef veggie soup one weekend and turkey chilli this past weekend) and I could bet a thousand dollars that I can not go back and recreate the same meal with the same seasonings, etc. That makes me so mad. But I'm glad that I made a big gumbo pot of both meals and I was able to free a lot of stuff. :love

However, I did enjoy a nice glass of muscadine wine and I made a 10 egg (duck eggs) pound cake. I cut the pound cake up in slices and froze them as well. I can't get my freezer fast enough. :/

kuntrygirl what was that coupon website you mentioned before?

We have a friend that is deployed.  He called yesterday :weee  We talked to his wife this morning and they need toothpaste!  She is going to check with him again and get a list of items that he and other guys need.  She said they get tons of toothbrushes, but not hardly any toothpaste.  It means a lot to us to be able to help make those guys and gals comfortable as they can be.  I'm going to make them cookies!  I'm excited to send them something!

Yes, I have a limit. I don't burn live animals or people. I DO burn trash, leaves, sticks, branches, ant piles, and other things laying around in the yard. My wish is to burn a car one day to see how quickly it will explode.

You would have LOVED coming w/us a few years ago. We got invited out to Camp Claiborne to watch A-10’s from Barksdale practice strafing runs. They had all kinds of junked cars & busses out there. We went up into the tower – I think it was 9 stories high, something like that – real scary climb! – but worth it – the jets came in for high and then low level strafing runs. It was so much fun to see those cars & busses explode!

Sounds like my kinda fun.

Walmart shelves were reportedly cleared in two north Louisiana towns after a glitch in the food stamps program.

According to KSLA, police were called in to help control order in Springhill and Mansfield, LA after stores allowed purchases on EBT cards, even though they were not showing limits. This only happened from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The police chief in Springhill says "It was worse than any black Friday" that he's ever seen.

According to the TV station, after the limits came back at 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. Police said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food.

Lafayette Walmart stores reported they were investigating similar complaints, but they wouldn't elaborate.

Right now, state officials are meeting on this weekend's malfunction. They tell us though DCFS vigorously investigates anyone suspected of fraudulently claiming public assistance benefits. Individuals are encouraged to report cases of suspected SNAP fraud by calling the DCFS toll-free hotline at 1-888-LAHELP-U and selecting option 7 from the main menu or by visiting www.dcfs.la.gov/ReportFraud.

In addition, many people will see more benefits on their card because the annual federal Cost of Living Adjustment took effect in October.

All sounds FABULOUS!!! I have been craving a beef vegetable soup!!!! I never pass up a good chili either! I don't think I need to mention the wine, but seldom do I meet one that doesn't work for me!

Do you have the recipee for the 10 egg pound cake? Or, tell me where to look for it. I'm assuming you can use chicken eggs. We are turning into a regular egg factory!!! LOVE IT!!
