"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yay! What a great recovery! So glad you followed your mama instinct! Great job!
Remember my kitty's eye was very injured? I literally had an appt to have it removed when I thought I noted some slight improvement. Well, his eye is totally healed. There was even a rather large visible ulcer/hole on the eye. My sweet boy has his beautiful eye back. And he was a great patient. He purred as I put drops and ointment in his eye multiple times a day.

One time my sultan broke a feather on his foot and with his bright white feather it made the bleeding seem so much more dramatic.

Haha..... uhm, Polish, Sultans, Seramas, Cochins, Japanese Bantams, Silkies, Appenzellar Spitzhauben, Frizzle, Columbian Rock, Crested Cream Legbars, Frizzle, Wyandottes, a BB Red Phoenix chick, EE's and I think that covers all of the breeds. A variety fun pack. ;)

You wouldn't happen to have a Cream Legbar cockerel you'd wanna sell would you?

Awwwwwwwww. Look how beautiful!! I'm so glad to hear about his recovery. That is awesome !!! :) Good job for taking great care of him.

So yesterday was a bad day for us all around...one thing after the next all very expensive, all very stressful and sad. We take things in stride and put on our poo-kicker boots and usually wade through til we reach the surface again...yesterday after winding down from an ugly day, hubby sends me a message at work saying were down a bird :( HUGE bird, he says 6 foot wing span easy and he is NOT an exaggerating guy- plopped down in the yard and the donkey-butt CX ran right at it :/.
These chickens fly for cover if I peek off the porch lol ug. Satan's spawn of a buzzard he thinks (was brown tho not black and had head feathers tho) snatched the 1st 8-9lb CX that reached it and flew off with a screaming bird (not clucking hubby said screams :( )
:'(

And we aren't *allowed* to do a dam thing about it because why? It comes from the sky? Phssst next sky creature in reach might get a bullet I was sooo mad and nothing he could do but babysit them til dusk. I got home and cleaned up bloody feathers, counted to see if it was the only one snatched (it was) and left a pile of treats for dawn when they come running.

Before dawn I awake to honking. Loud loud honking. Whaaaaaa is that?! Ug. It's freezing out I grab my robe and sandels, go look for the honking that the dog is now crying about...
That way...

you can't be serious?

So the dog takes off to get the honking and I follow her about 1/4 mile down to the bayou and tada! Our CX is cold and bleeding and having a drink. Very pissy that I do not have a feeder cup in hand :/
:bun hahaha too fat for even a teradactyl!
By now it was dawn and her sisters needed out

I'll take this as a start to a much better day, even if I am cold and covered in mud.

WOW!!! What a time you are having over there? I hope today gets better. :)

Hubby needed therapy time after yesterday so he went into the shop and built a grow out cage for our kits!

The weather delayed building on the rabbitry addition so this mornin I tackled rearranging and cleaning out the rabbitry to make room for above cages. Kits are outgrowing their brooder cages and within the week new sets of kits should be born so I want these guys out and in their pens so we can prep for the next set lol

Back to cleaning :)

I only have a young trio, not even laying age yet. I can let you know when I'm hatching.

Both prefer fish, more so with the Osprey, they have 5' {62"-66"} wing span. Do not know what weight they can carry. I would like to know what it was. Golden Eagles are not common in LA, would have to be passing thru or didn't read the book.

Oops! I'm wrong, there are Bald headed Eagles and Golden eagles in Louisiana. A nesting pair between Lafayette and Baton Rouge off of I-10

Angel...we've had a bald eagle that used to hang out at the end of our road. Could it have been something in the eagle family? The bald eagle was HUGE!!!!! I never appreciated how big they were until it swooped down out of a tree right above me...I nearly crashed the 4 wheeler into a tree!!

Post number 14 Kuntry has some good links.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/462680/selling-eggs/0_50

To retail or restaurants probably not without an inspection. But to general public haven't seen anyone ever harrassed down here - only when they run out of eggs lol

I am catching up, but when i saw this...

Look at EXEMPTION 1525.
Okay, from what all I read (and correct me if i am wrong)
1. You can sell eggs from your home at any time as long as it is NEVER advertised except for a sign on your own property and word of mouth. No ads, flyers etc.
2. You CANNOT set up on the side of the road, or at fairs etc. without being licensed and state regulated
3. You are protected under the Louisiana Cottage Act (which also applies to jam/jelly, chick/chicken sales) to sell from your home without being regulated to other people ONLY, no businesses, and as long as your income does not pass $500 without having to obtain a sales license. (which is only $25 yearly)
4. Being NPIP certified on EVERY laying hen and rooster is the smarter way to go as well as considering testing for the other diseases as well in case of any future lawsuit from egg causing illnesses from those you have sold eggs to.
5. NEVER sell eggs/chicks out of state.
6. NEVER sell eggs/chicks to people who have traveled FROM out of state and expect to return to the state they have come from.
7. All income from selling under the COTTAGE ACT law can be considered a 'donation' considering the cost of feed/upkeep of such animals requires every dime received and more and does not have to be claimed on your taxes.
8. No more than 30 dozen eggs can be sold at one time to any individual on your own premises.
9. Eggs 45 days and older are not to be considered for sale.
10. NEVER ever sell a chicken you processed yourself at home. THESE have severe regulations and are NOT exempt in any way. You MUST be licensed and pass all requirements.

Anyway, this is what i got from it and 3 other sites claiming Louisiana Laws. HOPE IT HELPS!
