Sac's does NOT carry Organic Feed. NatureWise is manufactured by Nutrena, and Nutrena does not carry or make ANYthing organic. They are PRO GMO. I found this out simply by going to Nutrena's website, (and I also made a wasted trip to Sac's and found out the hard way). If you call Sac's they will tell you that NatureWise is organic, because on the NatureWise bag is states the feed is "Natural" which evidently is confusing for the buyer at Sac's. It' frustrating how ignorant people are in the business of selling animal feed.
The following is from Nutrena's FAQs page, when asked about grains used in their poultry feed being GMO:
Yes. Some of our products may contain genetically modified ingredients. It’s important to remember that all grain is technically genetically-modified, as simple plant breeding is a form of genetic modification.
Agricultural biotechnology (including genetically engineering grain in a laboratory to enhance desired traits) is thoroughly researched, regulated, and safe to feed your animal. GMO ingredients are prevalent in the feed supply chain. Because grain for feed is purchased in bulk from large storage facilities, it is not possible to tell which corn has been genetically engineered. It is possible to specifically purchase “non-GMO” grains, but this comes at a premium price. Producing feed with non-GMO grains would be cost prohibitive.
My response to this is, If other consumer minded companies can manufacture and sell organic feed then so can Nutrena. Louisiana needs to get with the program!
